Trio

Trio is published by Happy Camper and is designed by Kaya Miyano, and it's a really just kind of a fun little memory game. So during the game. Players are gonna have some cards face down in front of them, and they're gonna be sorted in order from lowest to highest.

And then there's some cards in the center of the table too, and you are trying to get a trio the way that works on your turn, you can ask any of your opponents to show you their highest card or their lowest card, and they're gonna flip it up.  You say to your opponent over there, Hey, show me your lowest card. They flip up a three, and then you decide to flip up a card in the middle, and if it's also a three, you've gotta match. And when you match a pair like that, you get a bonus, third go iin which you're trying to get that trio. So after that, I could go to the same player again. Or a different player at the table can say, Hey, show me your lowest card.

If they flip it up and it's a three woo, that's a trio. That's a match, and that's what you're trying to do. And in the basic mode of the game or the simple mode if you can do that three times, if you get three trios, you've won the game. And there's also a spicy mode. And in spicy mode, all of these cards have another number in the bottom. The deck of cards itself is going to be the numbers one to twelve, and there's three of each of them. So there's three twelves, three threes, and so on. For example the twelves have a five down in the corner. So if you manage to get a trio of twelves and a trio of fives, you've won the game in spicy mode.

Another cool thing about spicy mode is the seven card is a gold colored card and it's the middle number, so it's kind of the toughest number to get a trio of. If you manage to get a trio of sevens, you win. It's over in spicy mode. All you need is that one trio and you have won the game.

Components of the game
It's 36 cards and the artwork and theme is pretty cool. It's kind of got a Mexican day of the dead feel to it. Some of the cards show images of an avocado, a cactus, musical notes. There's a pinata on the seven golden card. There is a sombrero, the eleven card has a margarita on it, and they're enjoying the margarita. So that gives you kind of an idea of the festive theme to the game. And while you're playing its a lot of fun trying to collect those trios and it creates a lot of fun moments.

If you ask someone to show you their highest card and they flip up an 11 and then you're trying to remember, oh, okay. There's an 11 in that spot. And sometimes what'll happen is someone else playing will manage to get a trio and it'll be one that you had remembered and you're just like, oh, I knew exactly where the elevens were. Oh, you got that trio? Darn. So it creates some fun moments like that while you're playing.

It is Fun

So is Trio fun? Would you like to play it? Why is it fun? Yes  it's fun because you're sitting around a table with your family and friends enjoying a shared experience, and it's real simple and easy to teach and play. So it's a perfect game for families. I think kids are gonna have a great time playing this game as well.

It's for three to six players. The box says age is eight and up, but hey, I think kids younger than that can play. All you're doing is identifying some numbers on some cards, and the cards all have the same color too. So all of the threes are blue, all of the sevens are gold, all of the twos are orange, the sixes are green, and so on.

So you're just trying to match, get three of a kind of colors are numbers. The gameplay itself is super easy. On your turn, you're just gonna flip up a card in the center or you can ask. Any of your opponents to flip up their highest or lowest card, and you're just trying to match those trios.

So usually after you play, you're gonna wanna play again. It's the type of game you're gonna wanna play 2, 3, 4 times in a row. 'cause it's just so quick and easy. And it's really a great time with your family and friends. So definitely give Trio a try. Another big benefit for Trio is it's small and compact, so it's gonna be really easy to bring with you on the go. If you're on vacation or maybe you're just going to a park or you just want to bring it with you over to a friend's gathering, it's perfect for that. So yeah, give Trio a try.
